The Walsh Group is currently accepting applications for a Crawler Crane Service Technician in Chicago, IL. Walsh is signatory to Local Operating Engineers Local 150 (we will sponsor and refer qualified individuals to the Local 150).

Responsibilities

Walsh Construction has been in business 125 years.  We are a construction company looking for an EXPERIENCED crawler crane technician to work in our facility repairing, rebuilding, and improving cranes.

 

  • Main role would be to work with the production team to determine the needs for each crane. Technician would work with other techs to perform the tasks.  Technician would perform run tests on each crane before it is shipped to the end user.
  • This position would require very periodic local and out of town travel to jobsites to assemble, disassemble, train, and/or test cranes.
  • Ideally has participated in Manitowoc training.
  • MUST HAVE A valid driver’s license.
  • This position may also require performing crane inspections.
  • This position may require last minute travel to assist in unplanned breakdowns.
  • This position will require periodic overtime, as necessary.
  • Travel to recruitment events as needed.
  • May be asked to work on additional projects within assigned region.

Qualifications

  • Member of the Operators Engineer Union (will refer qualified individuals for Union Membership)
  • Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
  • Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; may be required to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
